Hezekiah’s Prayer

While processing my clearance in Convergys, I had to stay in San Pedro with my relatives where also Mama, Papa, Psyche, and Nikka Lynn are staying for the meantime.

For the past couple of Sundays, our church was into healing miracles by God. We had witnessed and heard great healing real-life stories and discovered more of the grace of God in our lives. We learned that healing was not just spiritually, but God is also concerned about our physical healing.

My sister Nikka Lynn was one of those who had exercised the healing grace of God and had first-hand experience on healing people. So the first morning of my stay in San Pedro, I casually asked for her to pray for Nanay, my mother in law, for complete healing because she just had an operation last October.

I was totally expecting a quick YES from her that she would just do that but instead, to my surprise, she rebuked me right there while drinking our morning cups of coffee. She would definitely pray for Nanay but she explained that we all Christians already have the grace from God to act as His hands to heal people.
We tend to forget this and we quickly search out for people who would pray for healing for the people who need them. This is also the common mistakes that many Christians tend to do so believing that Pastors have more healing power versus regular attendees to Sunday services. We tend to forget that it is not the Pastors who do the healing but God. It’s never been about us but the immeasurable grace of God upon His people. We are placed in that situation by God where healing is needed, therefore, God wants us to do it and act as His healing hands.

We sometimes worry about what if it did not work? Again, it is not about us but Him, our Almighty God who is in charge. If it did not work for the first time, pray again, do it again, until the person gets healed.

She secured a prayer for Nanay as part of the Intercessor Ministry but she also reminded me that I could also command healing on Nanay by the grace of God.

Then I read the following story of Hezekiah and it did inspire me more on how great God is to us. It is just awesome to know that God is also concerned about our physical healing, health, and prayers that He listens and He cares.

Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. Isaiah went to him and said that the LORD said Hezekiah was going to die. Upon hearing this, Hezekiah prayed to the LORD, “Remember, O LORD, how I have walked before You faithfully and with wholehearted devotion, and have done what is good in Your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly. Then the LORD replied through Isaiah, “I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life.” From Isaiah 38:1-5 NIV.
