Confidence in the LORD

The LORD will be your confidence. Proverbs 3:26

As a weird person, I do weird things. That’s given, ha-ha! I remember when I was in my second year in college, I woke up one morning and didn’t like my hair. It was not a simple bad hair day to me. It was irritating that I ended up cutting my hair in front of a mirror. The first two cuts were ugly. So I tried some more and did more bad cuts. In other words, from bad hair day, I had to deal with the world with the ugliest hairstyle anyone could have. I looked so stupid that I didn’t want to go out until my hair grew back.

However, the bad news did not end there. That day was also our defense in one of our major subjects. And I was the leader. I had to go in front of the class and present the business plan and deal with the objections from the other teams and make sure to win the business proposal.

Heck, I didn’t want to do that! I could not stand the thought of getting the class happy and giggling seeing my hair. I couldn’t wear a cap either for it was not allowed inside the room. Then Gracia approached me and gave me a little note of encouragement. It made me smile and it did help me to stand and defend our team. The ending was successful.
It was really inspiring that someone like Gracia cares so much about me that she was always there to cheer me up. God is a lot better than that. God is always present and is with you wherever you go. And knowing that God is with you, who can go against you, right?

That same encouragement Joshua received from God after Moses died and the leadership among Israelites was given to him. Joshua was considerably young and I could imagine his worry how to lead those people who used to listen to Moses.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

And God did not just encourage Joshua but He also helped Joshua to lead the Israelites. As a proof that Joshua was the next chosen leader, just like how the Red Sea was divided in time of Moses, God also did the same thing when they crossed the divided Jordan River as a proof that He was with Joshua.

How great to know that God is that concerned in everything we do! He would not just give you a note of encouragement but He will also give you that godly confidence in your work. In such a great awe of Him, we just want to do things to give Him glory as an act of worship.
